Builders are faster to a pretty home page. They get expensive and sticky when you want a real blog, exports, and a designer who is not their template library.
Export on the worst day
Squarespace and Wix will not hand you a portable WordPress XML that looks the same. If you might leave in two years, start on WordPress or a static generator. If you need a brochure site this month and you will not write 200 posts, a builder is fine.
Blog features that matter
RSS, drafts, and a URL you control. Some builders still treat blogs as an afterthought. If affiliate posts are the business, do not build the business on a closed silo.
Price after the discount year
Note the renewal. Transaction fees on commerce plans add up. Custom domains should not be a hostage.
