Same prompts, three desks. The winner depends on documents, code, and how you revise.

You do not need a winner for humanity. You need the model that fails less on your actual files. In 2026 the paid ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini plans overlap. The difference shows up in long PDFs, code diffs, and whether your company will allow the data to leave the building.

Long documents

Claude is still the one I trust first with a 80-page PDF and a “what did they actually promise in section 4” prompt. Gemini is convenient if the file already lives in Drive. ChatGPT is fine for shorter briefs and when you want plugins or a browsing loop. None of them replace reading the contract.

Code and tables

ChatGPT and Claude both write glue code. Claude tends to be more conservative about deleting your comments. Gemini is fastest when you are already in Google Colab. For a CSV you care about, check row counts yourself — models still invent columns.

Privacy on a work account

Use the business/enterprise SKU if the file is not yours to leak. Turn off training on workspace plans. If legal said no cloud models, stop shopping consumer Plus coupons. A local model on a spare PC is slower and more honest for that constraint.

Who should skip a triple subscription

Pick one paid plan for 30 days and keep notes. Two subscriptions only make sense if one model keeps refusing your document type. Skip stacking plus a fourth “AI workspace” that is just a wrapper with a worse privacy policy.
