How to Build a Useful Buying Guide Instead of a Sales Page

A job, a skip, and a date you will update — not a 40-link pile.

A useful buying guide starts with the job the reader has. A sales page starts with the cookie banner and ten “top picks” from a network feed. Readers can tell.

Name the job

“Best laptop” is not a job. “Laptop for a researcher who carries it to archives” is. Every pick should fail a different reader on purpose so the rest can trust you.

Name the skip

Who should not buy this. If every pick is for everyone, you wrote an ad. Put the date at the top and change it when the market moves.

Links

Fewer affiliate links, each next to a reason. Disclosure in plain language. If you have not used the product and will not say so, do not rank it number one.
