Spec sheets are ads with numbers. Read the footnotes. “Up to” is a lab. Typical is what you will feel.
Radios and batteries
Wi-Fi 7 “up to” rates need a matching router and a clear room. Battery hours often exclude the bright screen and the radio. Look for an Energy Star or vendor PDF with a test method.
Panels and colors
100% sRGB is common. 100% DCI-P3 is not. If they only quote contrast without a brightness, they are hiding a dim panel. Refresh rate without frame-rate at that resolution is theater.
The return footnote
Restocking fees, opened-box, and missing retail packaging. If you cannot return a laptop after a week of heat-testing, the spec sheet does not matter.
