A password manager is the highest-ROI security buy on this site. 1Password, Bitwarden, and Apple’s Keychain/iCloud Passwords all work. The product you will actually fill on every site wins.

Family sharing and passkeys

1Password is polished for families and passkeys. Bitwarden is the one I suggest when someone wants open source and a cheap family plan. Apple is free if everyone is on Apple and you accept the ecosystem leash.

Recovery

Print a recovery kit. Store it where a fire does not eat it with the laptop. A manager with no recovery is a hostage note to your future self. Two-factor on the manager itself is required.

Who should skip paying

Skip a third paid manager if Keychain already works and you will not leave Apple. Do not skip a manager entirely because “I remember them.” That is how reused banking passwords happen.
