Laptop ads love last-year CPUs with this-year wallpaper. Open a sale if the config has enough RAM, a non-soldered upgrade path or enough RAM already, and a panel you can live with. Otherwise it is a flyer.

Config traps

8 GB in 2026 is a skip for a machine you will keep. 256 GB SSD is tight if you edit video. A 45% NTSC panel is a skip if you retouch photos. The CPU generation in the footnote matters more than the hero number.

Last-year chips

A previous-gen CPU at 35% off can be the smart buy. The same chip at 8% off is not. Check whether the sale SKU disabled the better screen.

When the sticker is fake

If every week is “$400 off,” it is the price. Use a tracker. Skip extended warranty pop-ups at checkout unless you know the depot story in your country.
